Short Story About The Light
One of the more spectacular lighthouses still remaining!
Located
in the Big
Sur area,
surrounded
by awesome
views of
mountains,
ocean and
big sky,
this
unforgettable
place,
will
forever
remain in
your
memories.
The
lighthouse
is tucked
away, on
the side
of a big
rock,
seemingly
separated
from the
mainland;
but in
fact, it
is
connected!
She is
somewhat
difficult
to see
from the
Pacific
Coast
Highway,
if you
are
traveling
south
during
daylight
hours,
with the
sun in
your eyes.
Northbound
is
slightly
easier,
but
remember,
this
wonder is
tucked up
high
inside the
rocks and
of course,
faces the
ocean.
Pt. Sur
Light is
250 feet
above sea
level and
is
identified
from
seaward,
by a
flashing
white
light,
every 15
seconds.
Her light
is visible
for
twenty-five
miles.
There
is a
restaurant
about
three to
five miles
north of
the Light.
It
too, is
built out
on the
rocks,
overlooking
the ocean.
If you're
having
dinner or
stopping
for
refreshments,
and it
just
happens to
be dusk,
you
will be
treated to
seeing the
Pt. Sur
beacon
light up.
And
usually,
as the
sky
darkens,
you will
witness a
spectacular
sunset,
shooting
stars and
the
Milky Way.
