Faulkners Island Light, CT
Faulkner's Island Light
This is the second oldest lighthouse in Connecticut (New London is older)!
Built in 1802 after a series of shipwrecks on this three acre island prompted action from the federal government - she is still an active aid to navigation.
British soldiers inspected the lighthouse and the island during the War of 1812 - but decided to let the tower stand since it helped their ships navigate the area.
Her identifying features: she shows a flashing white light every ten seconds; visible for thirteen miles; and stands ninety-four feet high.
The Faulkner's Light Brigade is actively restoring this historic place and they can be reached at:

This is a great light to see, but you need to do it by boat and you are not allowed to land on the island.
