Turnberry Lighthouse

This popular aid to navigation stands as a silent sentinel near Bristo Rock on the Ayrshire Coast – protecting mariners from wrecking their ships on this treacherous shore.

Built in 1873, she stands twenty-nine metres tall and her flashing white light at fifteen-second intervals can be seen from twenty-four nautical miles away.

I’m told this lighthouse is situated near the 9th hole at the famous Turnberry Golf Course.
